Hi Kasey, To help you and Gary write talking points, I have attached a file that suggests talking points for the repeal of 17C-11-5 (a). That section of WV Connecting Communities Legislative Agenda: Proposed Bicycle Legislation Changes is probably the most complex and difficult to dis-entangle. This morning, HB3021 that requires motorists to pass bicycle no closer than 4-feet and eliminates the requirement to ride as far to the right as practicable and eliminates the requirement to use a useable sidepath when available and not the roadway was introduced to the WV legislature. Beech View Place opportunity - sidewalk ramp

On the way down to BOPARC to pick up tags for the valet service tonight, I observed workers in the process of finishing the cement for steps going down to the rail trail at the new Beech View Place development (I believe that is the correct name). This is a perfect opportunity to request that ramp(s) be placed on the side of these new steps so that bicyclists can easily push their bicycles up/down, rather than having to carry their bicycles up the steps. This would be an easy thing to add. Who could we contact to make this request? -Jonathan

Today - Free bicycle valet parking @ SWITCH

Today at WVU's Festival of Ideas showing of SWITCH at the Metropolitan Theater you will have the opportunity to be part of what I believe is the first ever free bicycle valet parking service in the history of Morgantown. Even if you do not stay for the whole event, you will have made history, think about that. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. so arrive a little earlier to get premium parking in the loading zone right outside the front door. Volunteers include Derek from the BB, Mark Wm. Thorne with the South Middle Bike Club, Gus, and me. Additionally, we will be filmed by a senior majoring in journalism for a multimedia piece. Get in the zone! -Jonathan

Attached is the draft bill resulting from the legislative agenda that the BB recommended to West Virginia Connecting Communities. Any comments? The attached draft bill does not include our recommendation for the state to adopt the 2009 MUTCD. That will be addressed in a separate bill. Please give me your comments ASAP as I would like to respond to Kasey no later than Tuesday.
