He was recently onboarded and replaces Krista Baker. Stolen kids' bike

A neighbors' bike was stolen from their garage, 20" white and black frame with "Ambush" on it. Image pasted below & attached.He's super bummed, hoping we find it. TONIGHT - Spoky Halloween Night Ride

Tonight, around 7pm there will be an unplanned, unsponsored, informal, impromptu spoky (short-o) Halloween night ride beginning from the vicinity of Positive Spin's new location. Some things to keep in mind .. For night riding in the Morgantown area, the bike should be equipped with a front light and a red reflector on the rear of the bicycle, also a red taillight may be used, which is highly recommended. Helmets are required. Although, there is no plan to stop anywhere, it would be prudent to bring a locking device to secure your bike just in case we do decide to stop somewhere. The temperature should be pleasant during the daytime, however, it will go into the 50's (also pleasant) during the evening so dress accordingly. -Jonathan

Hi all, Here are the minutes from October's meeting. Some highlights include: *Decisions:* *1. *Approved: September minutes, stickers for bicycle friendly city signs, try to get sharrows installed on the Jones-Raleigh corridor *2. *Postponed tour de sharrow until February unless new sharrows are put down on Rawley sooner *3. *Form committee to plan and organize yearly events *4. *Move November social rides to Sunday to ensure daylight as fall sets in and the days get shorter *Some new action items* *1. *All: go to neighborhood meetings to tell everyone about bike board; D. Gatlin will send a reminder email and details about neighborhood association meetings *2. *All: Read and share new articles on bike infrastructure *3. *H. Grandon, M. Newcomb, C. Wamsley, B. Bicycle Parking required at Morgantown Mall

Good news: Article (copied below) on front page of today’s Dominion Post says, County Commission unanimously approved site development for Book Exchange at former Elder Beerman location in Morgantown Mall, "with the condition that parking include a minimum number of long-term and short-term bicycle storage areas”. How’d that happen? Harry?:) Frank Commission approves site d e ve l o p m e n t BY BEN CONLEY The Dominion Post A 19,000 square-foot development in the space formerly occupied by Elder-Beerman in the old Mountaineer Mall received site plan approval from the Morgantown Planning Commission on Thursday. Book Exchange Holdings Inc. owner Jonathan Fleming requested the significant impact site plan review. He said that the space will be used to support the online retail portion of Book Exchang e’s business. “We started this side of our business about five years ago and we’ve been selling things online more and more,” F leming said. “We started with 6,000 feet. We went up to 11,000 [feet] and this year we need to go up to 19,000 [feet]. This is really the only space in Morgantown we could find that kind of fit the bill.” The request was unanimously approved with the condition that parking include a minimum number of longterm and short-term bicycle storage areas.

All, Please be aware that the MHS homecoming parade is scheduled to begin at 6pm tonight. The parade will traverse the usual High Street route and disperse at Foundry Street. Traveling via motor vehicle to our meeting might be limited if you are approaching from Beechurst, University Ave, Willey Street, or South High Street. Hello All! Please find our agenda attached. There are two items up for grabs if any of you want to take a shot at facilitating the discussion (I'm totally willing to chat about those items beforehand to get you caught up to speed if you're willing!). Also, we're again in need of a volunteer for secretary (or did someone volunteer to do it this month at last month's meeting?). Finally, is anyone willing to spearhead organizing and marketing the upcoming social ride? It's gonna be a spooky ride, Friday, October 13th.
