Thanks Kelly! I'll look into the insurance question. A few questions back:1) what route to Rising Creek would you take? We'd trust your judgement of the road conditions, of course. Now that I think more about it, is there a safe road ride on only WV roads (rather than into PA) since this is the WV Bike Summit?2) re: insurance - if a non-member joins in one of your scheduled rides, is insurance needed? Is our request the same - or would it be viewed as the same by the legal system?Looking forward to it...we could always chat about these things as you walk by the house, too!Thanks so much! I am not certain about taking a group of cyclists up RT 100 to Mount Morris, I have avoided that road for the last two years because of the very bad condition of the road. Two other possibilities would be to bike up the Mon River Trail to Friendship Hill or to Lake Lynn Dam, the drawback there is, if it is wet, the one mile undeveloped trail to Point Marion can be pretty muddy.But, I am open to any suggestions. The bigger question to me is the one of insurance. Country Roads Cyclists has insurance to cover its members riding, but we had to pay extra ($233.00) for an event, like the Spring Spectacular in May of 2017. So, would the bike board or WV Bike Summit be covering this? I am looking forward to hearing back on these two issues. This publication analyzes national data to understand fatal bicyclist-motor vehicle crash characteristics, offering 30 actions steps to help State Highway Safety Offices and local communities assess and improve their current bicyclist safety programs. Chief among these recommendations are collecting better crash data, increasing training for law enforcement to understand laws designed to protect bicyclists, partnering with bicycling and community organizations to amplify safety messaging, and coupling infrastructure improvements with public education campaigns. Tonight's monthly social ride

Four cyclists: Ryan Simonton, Katie Luckini, Jack Barker and Frank Gmeindl made the monthly Social Ride tonight. Not a bad turnout considering we only posted the event on Facebook 2 days ago. We had a pleasant ride through 5 neighborhoods, 4 City parks and by 3 of our historic bars. The recent paving was nice but the hills are still there:) Barely any traffic and excellent weather right until the very end when a few raindrops began to fall. Hi Drew and all Bike Board I have a favor to ask. MRTC is interviewing for an on-call engineer to handle Rec Trail Grants and other engineering needed projects. The interviews are scheduled on evening of Thursday, August 3. Our usual meeting spaces either will not work or are not available. Would Bike Board be willing to meet in the large Public Safety Building room and allow MRTC to use the smaller conference room? We would be meeting from 5-7:30PM. Feel free to call me or to say No. I understand one room is easier to set up for discussion. I will keep going down list of possible other locations. The meeting will focus on developing a planning 'team' and a planning structure / approach / method, call it what you will. The structure will include the 'how' (meaning how we move forward), and a rough timeline. I have heard back from a few of you (thanks for that); others who are planning to attend please let me know. If you'd like to be on the planning team (recognizing that your participation will involve a meaningful but reasonable commitment of time and effort), let me know by email or phone call.
