Morgantown Bike Board
Howdy Board,
Your homework, even if you're not able to attend the meeting:
Reach out to your cycling friends in other cities, or just ruminate on what
you'd like to see / do here for Bike Month 2017. We haven't allocated the
$5K in escrow yet, so feel free to dream big. We also have some leftover
grant funds we may be able to use.
Perhaps we can put together event kits for groups around town to host bike
events on their own? At businesses and at schools, for example?
Some inspiration from the league: http://bikeleague.org/bikemonth
Conversely, our Pittsburgh neighbors don't appear to place as much emphasis
on Bike Month as some parts of the country. Maybe a different time of year
for a larger series of events would work better for us too?
Also: if there was one road that we could paint with sharrows first, months
before the installation of the whole project -- and you were limited to
choosing a city road -- which would you choose to paint? This theoretical
installation would serve as a motivator for all stakeholders involved.
Hope you've been enjoying this early spring on two wheels!
Drew
Anybody from the Bike Board interested in helping with a bicycle safety
or a bike rodeo on May 20 at Kingwood, WV?

SUBJECT:
Family Adventure Day May 20
DATE:

FROM:
Kim Liston <kliston(a)prestonmemorial.org>
Good afternoon,
The Preston Prevention Partnership, the Preston County Family Resource
Network and After School Explorers will be hosting FAMILY ADVENTURE DAY
on Saturday May 20th from 10-2pm at the Craig Civic Center on Tunnelton
Street, Kingwood WV 26537 (Preston County)
The FAMILY ADVENTURE DAY is replacing the Family Life Expo. We are
changing it up to offer families information and interactive activities
that families can learn and do together.
We are specifically looking for someone to help us with bicycle safety
or a bike rodeo. Do you have anyone who may be able to help us with
this? We appreciate your consideration
Thanks,
Kim

Hi all, I received some suggested changes for the March meeting minutes in
sections 6 and 7. Please take a look and let me know if you have any other
suggestions.
Thank you!
Hi all,
March meeting minutes are attached. Please take a look and let me know if
you have any changes or corrections.
Harry recently shared some ideas for sharrows stickers in a jpg form. These
are the same images we circulated before, but in a more edit-able format
for anyone who is feeling creative. I put these images, a picture of an
actual sharrow on a road, and the inspiration for the sharrows sticker idea
on our rocketchat platform. If you haven't yet, sign up and take a look!

We had a visit from Dan Shook, Director of the Safe Communities America
Initiative, at the meeting. To find out more about the work he's doing
around community safety, visit the website here:

Don't forget, you can find (and add) bike racks around Morgantown through
our local RackSpotter platform:

Please let me know if I missed anything!

Hi all - see attached for sharrow artwork from Harry and his designer
connection :)
These are in jpg form, if anyone wants to play around with editing.
See you tomorrow!
I was filming footing of the new WV DEP Secretary, Austin Caperton,
this evening. In his introduction, he explained that one of his virtues
is that he is an outdoors person, and he is an avid bicyclist.
