CRITICAL: Positive Spin looking for a new space immediately!

Positive Spin, Morgantown's non-profit bicycle collective, was alerted by their Lessor that their lease is now void and that they have 60 days to vacate by the end of February. The owners of the property decided to sell the property and there is a clause in the lease that gives them the ability to do this in the event of a sale if the lessee is not in the first year of the lease. What this means is that Positive Spin will have to quickly find a place with at least 1700 to 2000 sq ft at no more than $6/sq ft/yr. Positive Spin helps a diverse group of people acquire affordable sustainable transportation, recreation and exercise via bicycles and helps them learn how to maintain their bicycle. January 2019 meeting

Interesting numbers. Based on seven months usage, a single scooter would log 45miles/month and a single bike would log 10 miles/month. It would be interesting to see numbers before scooter introduction. Friends -An odd email, but wanted to let you know there's a TON of stuff that could be repurposed currently being liquidated online from Stansbury & Hodges halls. Boatloads of metal shelving, exercise equipment, office furniture, and wacky stuff like the marble - yes marble - shower stalls & benches from the bathrooms. Pretty fun to scroll through the listings. Here’s an October 11, 2018 report from Austin, TX on their Dockless Mobility Program, http://www.austintexas.gov/edims/document.cfm?id=307564 <http://www.austintexas.gov/edims/document.cfm?id=307564> Some interesting statistics from April - October: Number of devices in service Scooters: 3,750 Bicycles: 1,200 Miles ridden Scooters: 1,190,900 Bicycles: 85,000 Number of crashes Scooters: 37 Bicycles: 81 Computation: bicycles had 30 times higher crash rate than scooters. None of the scooter crashes was fatal; 1 was life threatening; 16 had “significant signs and symptoms” and 14 were non-life threatening. MRTC received two grants at the ceremony yesterday- one for drainage repairs in the Arboretum section of trail. And the other was for lighting in the Wharf District. Also big news for rail-trail work in Fairmont area, Shinnston area, and Preston County for the Cheat River Trail (along Cheat River) and WV Northern Trail (Kingwood). Chicago did a dockless bike-share pilot in the South Side this summer. Temporary repairs are being made today in that area. Also, there may be MUB work in the same area tomorrow. Please use caution.
