Chip, gunnar, Nick,
The grant proposal is due to Jeff Mikorski COB this Thursday. The City received the invitation to propose on December 20. Jeff must submit the proposal no later than Saturday.
I was expecting to have more time to make the proposal. I had planned that we would develop it as a team. Now, with so little time, i plan to write a draft and run it by you for changes and comments. I hope to have something for you by tomorrow, Wednesday afternoon. I plan to start with our …
[View More]last proposal; update it with info that we developed for the Intent-to-Propose; flesh out the descriptions of what we propose to do and include the report of FY2010 accomplishments.
If you have any better ideas, please let me know ASAP.

Terrence,
Thank you and Carol for arranging for you, me, Jeff and Damien to meet Tuesday, January 18 at 3:30 pm. I'm wondering if we could reserve a few minutes near the end of the meeting to schedule similar meetings with other key officials such as the Chief of Police.
The Bicycle Board is grateful for your participation in our monthly meeting last week. I feel we're off to an exciting and productive start together.
I was particularly impressed that Las Cruces is a League of American …
[View More]Bicyclists Bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community. I look forward to your insights to help Morgantown win the award as well.
As you know, the Award criteria are divided into 6 areas: Education, Engineering, Enforcement, Encouragement, Evaluation and Equity. Our 2007 application is available on the City's website at Bicycle Application for the League of American Bicyclists Bicycle Friendly Community Award .
Attached is the feedback that we received. As I mentioned, we've addressed most of the feedback that we received and we're almost ready to submit another application. However, the Enforcement recommendations remain to be addressed.
Perhaps our next meeting could be with the Chief of Police once a permanent replacement for Chief Scott is in place. Other officials that are key stakeholders in our comprehensive bicycle plan would be the Parking Authority and BOPARC.

Gunnar,
I've been thinking about it since I heard about the place a few years ago. I'd rather make it happen here though.

Bicycle Board Members,
Attached is a PDF of the bike route map that I displayed on the wall at last night's meeting. Please let me know if you see any errors or any opportunities for improvement. Derek is proceeding to finalize this.
As I said last night, the numbers, e.g. 12.2 mark points that we had formerly planned to put shared lane markings or Bicycles May Use Full Lane signs before we had defined bike routes. These points will not be on the final map. On the other hand, the final …
[View More]map will include the points of interest that we have already developed.
For Alice and anyone else that needs a paper copy, I'm proceeding to get copies printed. I'll let you know when I have them.

Bicycle Board Members,
FYI, attached is a resolution passed by Charleston City Council to create 100 miles of marked biking, jogging and hiking trails and to be recognized as one of the healthiest Cities in the US. Also attached is a plan for accomplishing that.
