I've got some exciting news that DOES NOT have to be kept secret, in fact I hope you'll blab this to everyone you know because this team of WVU engineering students deserve immediate and enthusiastic recognition for what they've done, which is this.&nbsp; In last week's American Society of Mechanical Engineers' (ASME) Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (HPVC) they competed with a trike of their own design and construction and finished 7th among 32 schools.&nbsp; How they did so well is impressive too, they focused on getting the basics - wheels, drivetrain, steering - working well.&nbsp; In the endurance event their vehicle kept running while faster and more exotic ones were breaking down and crashing.&nbsp; This was a major factor in their final score - which was determined by a combination of design, safety, practicality and speed criteria.<br />

I'm not sure if there's a place for things like this on BFC applications, but to everyone at the competition it put Morgantown on the map as a place for bicycling.<br />
There will be a team presentation tomorrow at the Engineering Campus.&nbsp; I'll post details on the Facebook page for Positive Spin when I get them.<br />
