Bicycle Board Members,

WV has been upgraded from 50 to 48 among Bicycle Friendly States.  See attached feedback.

The criteria for states are slightly different from the criteria for communities.  WV improved from F to D in education and encouragement criterion.  I wonder if Morgantown was a contributing factor for that.

Good afternoon,

The League of American Bicyclists is happy to announce the 2012 Bicycle Friendly States rankings and feedback.  This information will be publically announced onTuesday, May 22 at 9:00am EST as part of Bike Month.  Feel free to share this information internally leading up to the public announcement.

The attached press kit contains several documents that will help spread the word in your state and answer questions that come up.

·         National Press Release
·         Local Press Release Template
·         State Report Card (ranking, feedback, etc.)
·         State Ranking Chart (quick comparisons between all states)

Please contact me if you have any questions or comments.  The League’s BFS website will be updated shortly and is a good resource as well.  Over the next few months, I’ll be blogging additional analysis and resources for each of the five categories.

Thank you as always for participating in the Bicycle Friendly States program.  I look forward to working together to continue to improve bicycling in West Virginia.

Thanks,
Matt
