I tried to figure out a race loop in the Wharf area a few years back and it wasn't possible. Unless some roads opened since then, it took a lot of area to meet the minimum distance requirement and then there was no parking that wasn't inside the race loop.  I never even got to the part about requesting from the city to give permissions, which is going to be hard if some of those businesses are open (April 12 is a Sunday). I expect a race would be from 8a to 1pm unless it also included public racing which would make it all daylight.

I doubt WVU is going to be cordial with any event around the Stadium, Coliseum or Rec Center like you would expect, as they (really just 1 person) weren't when we put one on despite having no issues arise.

How would they go about planning this? They are road racers. Which Permissions are necessary? I know they have organized bike races in the past in other communities.

Hello Mayor Selin,

I am the road cycling coordinator for the WVU Cycling team. A team mate of mine got your contact info in hopes that we would be able to put on a race in the city of Morgantown.

We were hoping to be able to do the race on the 12th of April in the Wharf area. Obviously we are just in the early planning phases of this, and I was wondering how possible you think that this would be or if you had any insight as to how the city of Morgantown would like to go about planning this.

Thank you for your time,

Nicholas Caddenhead
