Hi All-
Morgantown Brewing seems like a good location given the other businesses around there. We'd need to investigate the case for locating it there. Do employees ride to work? Do they give discounts to patrons to ride? Would we consider this area a "bike friendly" district?
Suncrest Middle would make a really great location, as well, assuming we're confident it would be put to good use. I can imagine a compelling narrative about Matt's efforts, getting the older rack put up, and then replacing it with a more permanent one through our efforts of this competition.
Happy to submit photos to Saris once we have them as long as I get feedback on what to include in the descriptions for the entries (check out the ones already up on their pagehttps://www.facebook.com/SarisCycleRacks?v=app_212049048919872&app_data=gaReferrerOverride%3D for ideas when thinking of locations).

Troops - #2. Morgantown Brewing Company? Businesses at the shopping area with Oliverio's, AT&T, Starbucks on Patteson? Chelsea Square businesses (Kenyan Cafe, Puglionis, etc)? Suburban Lanes Plaza businesses (Tutto Gelato, Keglers, etc) - maybe getting the owner of a "mall" with a group of businesses together would be easier than a single business? #3. My specialty - I'd be happy to set up an online poll to vote on a location #5. I'd happily be part of the group ride, but am not as well connected to other cycling groups so I would not be the best leader to organize such a ride *From:* Derek Springston dspringston@gmail.com *To:* Bike Board - Morgantown bikeboard@bikemorgantown.com; Gunnar Shogren gshogren@gmail.com *Sent:* Tuesday, March 12, 2013 3:30 PM *Subject:* Re: [Bikeboard] Win a Saris Bike Corral
Bike Board Members, As promised, here are my task recommendations to proceed with sending a photo for the SARIS rack contest. So far Jonathan, Emily, and I are working on this. *Would anyone else like to help? *It has to be submitted by the 29th of March, so we don't have much time to act. I'd like folks to *volunteer for the tasks below today and tomorrow*. Then we'll proceed.
*Tasks*
- *Derek - *Contact Black Bear owners to see if they mind us asking Mr.
Sellaro about the bike rack as we had considered last year. I don't want to spend a whole lot of time on this since we did last year, but if Mr. Sellaro is ok with it, then we'll proceed.
- *Any BB Member or SARIS committee* *member* - Submit locations you
think would be appropriate for Saris rack in order to Develop list of possible businesses and locations around town that would provide greatest need for a rack. 3. *Volunteer?* - Email BB for vote on top 5 locations (or so) to pursue contacting. 4. *Volunteer?* - Develop list of contact information and call for permission to take photo of their location with a group of staged cyclists and/or students, others. Establish time to take photo with each business. Would be best to schedule these photos perhaps as part of a small group ride on Saturday or Sunday so we can get them all done at once, but would be nice not to have the same exact people in each one!
- *Volunteer?* - Round up group of volunteer cyclists for scheduled
times. Could use Mon Bike Club, Bike Board, or WVU Cycling Club, etc to round folks up.
*Emily and volunteer cyclists* - Take photos at locations
*Volunteer?* - Submit Photos to Saris
*Volunteers?* - Post article on Morgantownbike.comhttp://morgantownbike.com/,
Facebook, talk to friends about voting for our picture(s) after March 29th on the Saris website.
*Please volunteer to help today or tomorrow! * ~Derek On Mon, Mar 4, 2013 at 1:59 PM, Emily Vasile emilyvasile@gmail.comwrote:

Gunnar and Emily, In prep for Thursday and this opportunity, I can dig up the old emails to the Black Bear folks in case we wish to try with them again. Thanks Jonathan. Thanks for sending this out, Jonathan. Can we add this to our agenda for this week, Gunnar?
You bet we can! Who wants to take charge of this? Emily? Jonathan? Bueller? (Emily might not know that we half tried this last year...)

What is a bike corral?
A bike corral converts the space of one car parking stall to parking for 10 bikes. It’s a great use of space and a low cost option for more
customer
parking, it frees up sidewalk space for pedestrian foot traffic and communicates a commitment to bike friendliness.
The Hopleaf Brewery is located in one of Chicago’s most bike focused neighborhoods. Many patrons arrive via bike throughout the year.
Turning a
loading zone into bike parking for 12 bikes has provided a boost for business at the brewery and has added to the streetscape of the neighborhood.
The Andersonville bike corral is part of a parklet designed as part of Chicago’s People Spot program. Custom logo plates promote
Andersonville’s
bike friendliness.
