I agree that fear is an important barrier, but would rather state the positive But I'm not sure of the appropriate positive words. I'd ;like to see some more suggestions.

But I will say that I still have a little "problem" with the whole "without Fear" and cycling "fearlessly". I know that it's our "slogan" or whatever, but it's never really sat that well w/ me. I wish I could think of a better world or phrase that describes it better. I cycle very confidently and some would say I'm fearless, but I am not, and I'm not sure we want folks be fearless. One needs to have a little fear so that one takes note of things and makes sure that things are controllable, within your power to overcome, etc. Being fearful is bad. Is being fearless the opposite? Fear less. Sorry to bring it up, but w/ it so prominent on the card I couldn't help myself.
Thank you for raising this issue before we have 1,000 cards! The card says, "...without fear", not fearlessly. I understand and somewhat agree with your point about "fearlessly". I also know that "fearless" means "without fear" but I think, and this is just my opinion which I'm willing to change to the BB's consensus, is that "without fear" does not connote the "carelessness" that seems to me to be associated with "fearless".
I actually expected someone to object to my wording "without fear" rather than "fearlessly" as contained in our vision statement. One reason I chose to put "Learn to Ride without Fear" is that based on my interviews with people and reading, fear is the most frequent reason people give for not riding bikes. Sure, sometimes their first answer is, "no place to ride safely" or "no bike lanes" but when I pry into what they mean, we usually get to, "I'm afraid of getting hit by a car".
The main reason I felt compelled to put "Learn to Ride without Fear" on the card below "Confident City Cycling" is that someone once said to me that they didn't know what Confident City Cycling was. I guess I could say, "Learn to Ride with Confidence" or, "Confident City Cycling: a Bicycling Education Program". What do others think? We can change it.
Nice job on the card, I knew Gary would produce a good one.

Bicycle Board Members,
Thanks again to Gary Rodosta for creating the attached options for Confident City Cycling business cards. There are 4 options in the attached file. Please vote for the one that you think would be best for making available at local bike shops and other venues at which to advertise our bicycling education program. Since number 4 is basically a black & white version, please just vote for 1, 2 or 3.
Based on your votes, I'll take the winner to the printer by the end of this week.
Frank
