How about this for a letter to the editor?

In reference to the Jan 15 article, Moore eyes job in Texas, the City invested much time and money in a transparent professional process to hire a competent City Manager and we got one.  Moore's performance on the job has been consistent with his superb credentials and prior experience.  The president of each and every neighborhood association very single neighborhood association has given a glowing appraisal of the work Moore has done in his short tenure in Morgantown. They spoke of his proactive attitude and ability to get major things done in a short period as well as his warm and responsive communication style.  The Morgantown Municipal Bicycle Board has observed that Mr. Moore:
City Council hired this excellent Manager so we must ask, "What did City Council do to lose him and the investment that we've made in him?"

Here, let's brainstorm his engagement with the BB if we have positive examples of things he has worked with us on.

*  Established an objective to get Morgantown recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community and supported application to the League of American Bicyclists that won Morgantown the Bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community award: the only BFC award in WV a state formerly ranked 50th among bicycle friendly states
*  Convened WVDOT/WVDOH, WVU and MPO to forge a cost-shared agreement to install bicycle-climbing lane on Monongahela Blvd. between Eighth St. and Evansdale Dr.
*  Assigned a single point-of-contact between City administration and the Bicycle Board
*  Rode his bike to work on National Bike To Work Day May 18, 2012.

I'm supportive of drafting a letter documenting his engagement with the BB if we have positive examples of things he has worked with us on. If nothing else, that would be helpful for him in future endeavors.

He's done a great job for the Bike Board, right?  If so, think there's something we should do to let him know we'd like to keep him here?  Maybe we could write a letter, write several letters, or approach the city and let them know we think they'd be making a mistake letting him go?  Should we act?
