Mayor Jim Manilla read the Bike Month proclamation but it was somewhat different from the proclamation I wrote and that you reviewed and approved. The one he read omitted the Bike Month activities and dates that we had in there. In the acceptance speech that I'd written beforehand, I encouraged them to participate in Bike to Work week and Bike to Work day. I laughed when then Mayor Manilla asked me for the dates of those. I read them from the original proclamation that I'd submitted. Encouragingly, he wrote them down.
After the City Clerk read the resolution to adopt the Bike Plan, Mayor Manilla thanked the Bicycle Board for writing the plan and said that it was excellent. Terrence acknowledged Bill Austin's presence and reminded Council that they'd received a message from Bill saying that the MPO would use the Bicycle Plan in its planning process. Jenny Selin said that she visits high schools and tells high school students that if they want to see how boards conduct meetings and accomplish tasks, the BB is a good example. With no further discussion, the Council voted unanimously to adopt the plan.
Near the end of the meeting the Councilors give individual reports from their wards. Bill Byrne, Sixth Ward councilman and former mayor said that Brian Mollohan is a cyclist that called him to thank the City or WVDOH for cleaning the shoulder on Rt. 119 up the hill to WalMart.
