Bicycle Board Members,
Who's coming on the Wednesday evening MPO rail-trail ride? I need at least one other cyclist to either lead the group or to bring up the rear. The ride begins at 4:30 pm at the Hotel Morgan and ends at the Cookout at Marilla Park at 6:00 pm. We will ride from the Hotel down to the rail-trail, out to Eighth St., turn around, ride the rail-trail out to the crossing of Green Bag Road at Southern States and then back on the road to Marilla.
Frank Gmeindl Cyclists fare best when they act and are treated as drivers of vehicles
Clarification: The MPO ride is Wednesday Oct. 27, not this week.

Thanks to Ryan for responding positively to my message below.
Thanks also to Alice, Paul, Marilyn and Nick for responding. I think gunnar already volunteered at our last BB meeting.
This morning, Elizabeth Lilly the MPO conference organizer informed me that she's expecting 10 people for the ride next Wednesday, only 1 renting a bike.
The ride will begin at the Hotel Morgan at 4:30 pm Wednesday and end at the cookout at Marilla Park at 6:00 pm. This should be a good opportunity to develop rapport with WVDOH folks as well as drink some beers & eat.
Frank

Good morning,
My dance card filled up and since there are so many others going on this ride I am going to back out. Oddly enough I will be at Marilla doing a little CX clinic and skills session.
See you all there anyways!

Perhaps my previous message was unclear. Now, I will be the only BB member on the MPO ride. I am now at the conference and at least 6 attendees have brought their bikes, including wvdot's Rob Pennington who decides who gets transpiration enhancement grants and wvdoh's Richard Warner who influences the decision on the Mon Blvd bike lane. Thanks to Ryan, a non-member of the BB for offering to help keep the MPO ride together. The diversity of the participants that I've seen so far will need it.

Ya, and I'm having to skip out early on riding with kids from South Middle School to do it! (Just found out about that yesterday)

I would say that riding with South Middle School is more important if you teach them. I'll manage the mpo.

I can be there at 4:30 but will just have to be able to be at Marilla at 5:30 or so. Let me know.

The critical points will be gettng them from the hotel to the trail and then from the trail up to the bike lane and back. After that, it's all rail trail to Decker's Creek Blvd. so you could probably split after we're safely back on the trail from the bike lane viewing.
