I think they may need to start out with the City's special events permit since they are talking about road closures, etc. Jeff could probably speak better to that but I know that we often refer people to that permit process when they are planning large events that would impact the City's functions, and/or impede traffic flow.

Hello Mayor Selin,
I am the road cycling coordinator for the WVU Cycling team. A team mate of mine got your contact info in hopes that we would be able to put on a race in the city of Morgantown.
We were hoping to be able to do the race on the 12th of April in the Wharf area. Obviously we are just in the early planning phases of this, and I was wondering how possible you think that this would be or if you had any insight as to how the city of Morgantown would like to go about planning this.
Thank you for your time,
Nicholas Caddenhead
The Bicycle Board (should it revive), BOPARC and MRTC probably need a communication plan since each of those entities influence bicycling in Morgantown. The Traffic Commission probably should be included.
Your message is the first I am aware of cycling events planned for July 25 and November 14. I don't know if other Bicycle Board members know about it.
The Bicycle Board used to have a BOPARC member (Ralph Larue). It should probably have an MRTC member, too. When the Bicycle Board had regular monthly meetings and a BOPARC member, each body knew what the other was doing with regard to bicycling.
With the Traffic Commission's and Bicycle Board's charters being updated, solid MRTC management and new management at BOPARC, this might be an opportune time to improve organization, communication, cooperation and synergy.

And when is the Spring Spectacular?
The only other cycling event in Morgantown. And the only non-racing event as well.

Hi all, I am happy to attend your meetings if you let me know when and where. I think the meetings may have previously been in conflict with the Green Team meeting which is now typically the first Monday of the month at 5:30PM. But these cycling events at Marilla Park or in the Wharf would need a BOPARC person for best communication.
ANOTHER NON-RACE CYCLING EVENT Some of you are aware that the National Rails to Trails Conservancy is planning a mini-sojourn of approximately 100 cyclists for 3 days of cycling and a focus on the missing links to connecting the Mon River Rail-Trails to other rail-trails in every direction. This will be the weekend of April 24-26. On April 24- cycling to end of Marion County Trail just beyond Pricketts Fort, On April 25- cycling to Cheat Lake Trail (some road and hope to have gates open at Cheat Lake Dam to access Cheat Lake Trail) and On April 26- cycling on Deckers Creek Trail to mile 19 end. There will be a “shovel ceremony” in Point Marion to mark the start of construction of the Sheepskin Trail. I will be able to announce more opportunities for local cyclists after they begin to fill up registration.
On March 17, next Tuesday, Morgantown City Council will be signing a resolution to support a long distance network of rail-trails. See attached map. Feel free to come out to the city council meeting as a message of support. The same resolution is getting sign on across the network from Ohio and Parkersburg into Pennsylvania and up the Great Allegheny Passage.
Thank you for your work in turning out the cyclists to the Greenbag Road public meeting. Comments are still being taken online. Ella
