Hello all,
The City of Charleston is creating a bicycle master plan for the city.
The principal firm hired to perform this study is Alta Design and
Planning of Greensboro which has teamed with the local firm of TRC
Engineering. The Alta team has a national reputation in its design
work for bike trails and the city is excited to have them come to
Charleston to help with our efforts.
The goal is to establish world class trails and corridors for biking
in Charleston and to provide links to South Charleston, Coonskin,
Kanawha State Forest and beyond. In a larger sense this effort will
enhance outdoor recreational opportunities and make the Charleston
area a vibrant and exciting place.
Alta Planning will be in Charleston next Tuesday thru Thursday, March
17-19. During this time there will be a public meeting/open house on
Wednesday, March 18 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Location is Charleston
City Services Building, 915 Quarrier St East.
You are encouraged to drop by and give your thoughts on improvements
Charleston can make towards better bicycling.
If it is a nice day, ride your bike to the meeting.
