Hello Bike Board (or, rather, previous members of the bike board),
As you can see below, our assistant city manager would like me to solicit feedback on repair stations included with the Hazel Ruby McQuain park renovations.
They are currently planning to install one near bike parking on the walnut landing. Originally they planned to install two - the other was to be installed near bike parking close to the will call office (old bus depot). See the attached drawings for contextual information.
Feedback please: 1) Are you okay with just one fix-it station? 2) If so, where would you like it to be located? Preferably this would be one of the two previously mentioned locations, but if you have strong opinions otherwise feel free to share them 3) If not, are you willing to spend monies in the escrow account slated for bike stuff around town to install the second?
Alternatively, if you are willing to spend monies (we have ~$10.5K in escrow), but don't see the need for two fix-it stations in such close proximity, you could voice an opinion to install one somewhere else in city limits. They generally run b/t $1K-$2K. I heard recently that one was supposed to be installed at the new White Park parking area trailhead, but I am unsure of where that currently stands.
Cheers, Drew

Will do. Can you get me a shareable site plan that contains the original two locations with some contextual info?
I'll reiterate that I don't think bike board has seen these plans in any detail and that they may very well have not been aware that two fix-it stations were planned.
I'm guessing they will be happy with one, though I bet they wish it was closer to the rail-trail rather than down on the landing.

Drew,
Can you please discuss with the Bike Board…
For budget reasons, we had to remove 1 Bike Fix It Station from the design of HRM Park. There will still be one at the Walnut Street Landing Area. The one in the parking lot by the Depot has been removed.
Does the Bike Board feel that two are necessary? If so, does the Bike Board want to cover the cost of a second station? If so, I can get you a final cost.
Thank you,

Hi all, I’m included but not a bike board member. Here are my two cents.
1) I am fine with one. 2) I hope this one goes near the depot which is next to the trail and near new restrooms etc.
MRTC will be ordering and putting same fix it stations (we had fundraising campaign for them) at Van Voorhis Trailhead, Star City Trailhead, Masontown Trailhead and Pricketts Fort Trailhead. I could see others being useful along the Deckers Creek Trail in city limits through Sabraton or near Marilla Park trail parking.
I believe Colin Dierman or BOPARC would be able to give an update on the one for White Park.
Cheers, Ella

My opinion-1 is fine, located at the old depot building, not by walnut. MRTC has helped raise funds & received donations for 4 others along the trail outside city limits, likely at Van Voorhis, Masontown, Star City & Pricketts Fort trailheads. We hope to have them in hand soon & installed before the snow flies. Good stuff!Christiaan Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android
