Kelly -It just occurred to Drew & me that we'll have the other 2 rides that, though not led by CRC, may need insurance too. I'm wondering if these could be added too? We may have CRC members on each of those rides...sorry to be a pain, just checking. The other 2 rides are a MTB ride in white park and the educational ride of ~20 folks around town (~9 miles total, mostly on road). Thanks for checking. We greatly appreciate all your help.Christiaan "When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.” -Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Yes, that is the plan. I will send you confirmation of the insurance, Monday. The Spring Spectacular was about 250, so I assume this will be about the same. And, yes, two rides. One up Deckers, the second we plan a Dug Hill loop, ending on Deckers. Time should be ok, back by 2:30 ish.Bikes and helmets. Kelly

Kelly -I'm just returning to this to make sure we have finalized (or can finalize) this. I think the best approach is to have the CRCs add a "rider" or special event insurance (esp if it's around $250) and the organization leading the bike summit (WV Connecting Communities) will reimburse CRC. Please confirm the price with your carrier and let Drew & me know. Hope that is acceptable to CRC, and we greatly appreciate your help. I have a call with the Summit organizing committee and will follow up soon with more details. I'm cc'ing Drew, he's also helping organize that day. Here are the details of the day:1) noon: gather on trail behind the Waterfront Marriott for one of three rides: a) MTB in White Park (led by Colin & Christiaan) - bikes provided by WVU Outdoor Rec Center b) trail to Masontown (led by CRC) - riders bring own bikes c) road to Mt. Morris & Rising Creek (led by CRC)- or other road ride the CRC leader chooses - riders bring own bikes2) Return by 2:30
3) 3:00-4:30 educational ride led by host committee - bikes provided by Wamsley's & WVU 4) 6:30-8pm exciting evening panel led by yours truly re: making WV more bike friendly8pm + - general merriment Thanks! Thanks Kelly! I'll look into the insurance question. A few questions back:1) what route to Rising Creek would you take? We'd trust your judgement of the road conditions, of course. Now that I think more about it, is there a safe road ride on only WV roads (rather than into PA) since this is the WV Bike Summit?2) re: insurance - if a non-member joins in one of your scheduled rides, is insurance needed? Is our request the same - or would it be viewed as the same by the legal system?Looking forward to it...we could always chat about these things as you walk by the house, too! Thanks so much! Country Roads Cyclists would be glad to lead the two rides on Sunday, one up Decker's Creek and the other to Mount Morris. I am not certain about taking a group of cyclists up RT 100 to Mount Morris, I have avoided that road for the last two years because of the very bad condition of the road. Two other possibilities would be to bike up the Mon River Trail to Friendship Hill or to Lake Lynn Dam, the drawback there is, if it is wet, the one mile undeveloped trail to Point Marion can be pretty muddy. But, I am open to any suggestions. The bigger question to me is the one of insurance. Country Roads Cyclists has insurance to cover its members riding, but we had to pay extra ($233.00) for an event, like the Spring Spectacular in May of 2017. So, would the bike board or WV Bike Summit be covering this? I am looking forward to hearing back on these two issues. Kelly Williams
