Bicycle Board Members,
At last night's Traffic Commission meeting:
The TC unanimously appointed Traci Liebig to replace Hugh Kierig.
No TC members volunteered to replace Adam Henry. TC Chairman Roy Nutter directed me to explore with TC members. After the meeting, David McKain expressed interest but not commitment.
Christiaan Abildso presented the following list of corridors that the Pedestrian Safety Board is focusing on to get Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant money to make them Complete Streets. SR 705 SR705 from Coliseum along Patteson, Van Voorhis, & Chestnut Ridge Rd to city limit US 19/SR 7 US 19/SR 7 from Coliseum along Mon Blvd, Beechurst, & South University to Univ/Pleasant intersection SR 7 SR7 from city limit in Sabraton, on Brockway, & Walnut to intersection w/S University Univ Ave University Ave from city limits w/Star City to intersection of Willey & High US 119 US 119 from city limit on Don Knotts, S Univ up Pleasant, to Spruce, & Willey a) b/w Spruce & High, & b) up to city limit at Mileground Downtown City streets downtown, including Fayette & Chestnut HSIP was one of the funding sources that I shared with you two BB meetings ago. To get HSIP money, we must have corridors. We should join them in this effort.
At Monday's Pedestrian Safety Board meeting, a PSB member, Matthew Cross presented a matching he did of projects in the PSB's sidewalk plan with the City's paving plan to prod the City into including sidewalk installation/upgrade when it paves those streets. It would be nice if some BB member compared the Greater Morgantown Bicycle Plan proposed projects with the PSB corridors to identify possible synergies. For example, in the SR705 corridor, we proposed bike lanes on both sides of 705 between Willowdale and Mileground. PLEASE REPLY-ALL IF YOU WOULD WORK ON THIS.
