Did this get any traction with the city? I'm not sure how I missed it but one thing, in particular, stood out to me as one of the funding options of the grant: open street events. I'm interested to hear more from the city on partnerships in this arena.

We submitted this grant proposal but haven't heard back on it yet. The initial submission does not require us to select a final project, but it did provide space for us to indicate potential projects. The project we indicated as of most interest at the time of submission was regional bike/ped wayfinding. Open streets sounds like another great idea.
I'll keep you all informed if/when we hear back about the grant.

Hello all!
I was recently informed by our grant administrator that we did not receive the grant. The five cities chosen are reportedly:
Hartford, CT - city population 123K; metro 1.2M Fort Lauderdale, FL - city population 183K; metro 6.2M Jersey City, NJ - population 265K; metro ~20M+ Chattanooga, TN - population 181K; metro 547K Richardson, TX - population 121K; metro 7.5M
The major difference between our community and these is likely in population size -- we applied as a county-city partnership to qualify for the population criteria, but each of these has 100K+ population in their actual municipality. Other observations: with the exception of Hartford, all of these cities are growing rapidly (5-10% over past 10 years), all are part of much larger metro areas than ours, and all are much more affluent than we are.
Perhaps we'll see programs geared towards smaller, poorer, and more rural areas soon. Hard to imagine a $100K grant making much of a difference in any of these types of places, but it will be interesting to follow their stories for sure!
