Bicycle Ride - July 6! Spin with CRC

Mark your calendars! Positive Spin will join Country Roads Cyclists (CRC) for two bicycle rides on July 6 (Independence Day Weekend) and August 10; both events begin at 1pm. Meet at Positive Spin. If you need to drive, there is overflow parking beside the skate board park. At both events, we will bike up the Deckers Creek Trail to Masontown (milepost 13), then return to the park. Then we will have an informal potluck picnic at Positive Spin about 4:30pm. Please bring a dish to share, or food can be purchased in Sabraton. Keep in mind that you can ride whatever distance you want, that is one of the nice aspects about group trail rides. You can get creative, too. At the most recent Masontown ride there was a family who made arrangements so that one person drove up, and then bicycled back, and then the other person bicycled up, and drove back. When I was 11 years old, my own introduction to recreational road riding came from rides with an organization that preceded CRC, the Monongalia Bicycle Club. It is impressive to observe that the tradition of arranging rides that are friendly to all skill levels continues with CRC! Our organizations are now partners, and I would like to encourage Positive Spin volunteers (in lieu of hours) and supporters not only to become members of the Spin <http://apps.wvcompletestreets.org>, but to consider joining CRC <http://crcyclists.org/mem_form.pdf> for only $10! -Jonathan

July 4th Parade / Judging Contest / Podium Invitation

Dear friends, You are invited to join Positive Spin at Morgantown's 2014 Celebration of America <http://www.morgantownwv.gov/celebration-of-america-2014-schedule-of-events-…> on Independence Day, Friday, July 4th. *Parade:* One of the most patriotic ways to celebrate the Fourth of July is through the independence and freedom that riding bikes affords us. I hope we can generate a large turnout of bicyclists to participate in this parade. The parade lineup will be at the top of High Street. Please arrive by 4:45pm to find your spot, parade commences at 5pm. Parking will be available at Spruce Street and University Avenue Parking Garages. *Judging the Bicycle Decorating Contest:* Attached to this email is the Bicycle Decorating Contest Flyer with applications. Please distribute widely. *We need a few judges! * The contest will be situated by the Spruce Street Parking Garage. Arrive by 3:45pm because judging begins at 4:15pm and lasts only 30 minutes. There will be two age groups: 7 and under, 8-12. Positive Spin needs to pick out three winners from each age group, and we will be providing awards (bicycles and accessories) that the winners can pick out at the Spin at a later date! * **Podium Invitation**:* After the parade, at approximately 7pm, we will be announcing the winners of the decorating contest. Please join me if you helped judge the contest. Also, I want to invite board members (past and current), 2013 transition team members, volunteers, and supporters to join me for a special surprise at the podium (no speaking necessary, just happy faces)! Please email me back if you can participate. *Even more!* This shall be a long holiday weekend for Positive Spin. June 9 Board Meeting and Parade

We will be having a board meeting this Monday, June 9, at Positive Spin at 7:30pm. If you have any agenda items you would like to present at the meeting, please send them my way. One of the agenda items will be Positive Spin's participation in the 4th of July parade.
