This Sunday, May 24, Memorial Day Weekend, we will be spinning again
with Country Road Cyclists like we did last year!
Everyone is invited. Beginning at 1pm at Positive Spin, we will join
Country Roads Cyclists (CRC) for a ride up the Deckers Creek Trail to
Masontown (milepost 13), then return to Positive Spin. Keep in mind that
you can ride whatever distance you want, that is one of the nice aspects
about group trail rides. Then we will have an informal potluck picnic at
Positive Spin …

Encouragement, Enforcement, Evaluation & Planning. Please read the
attached document.
*May 24 (Memorial Day weekend), Fun ride/Potluck **at Positive Spin,
1pm* - Everyone is invited. We will join Country Roads Cyclists (CRC)
for a ride up the Deckers Creek Trail to Masontown (milepost 13), then

*May 30, Todd May First Responders Fair - Kids Helmet Giveaway* -
Volunteer helmet fitters needed for Saturday, May 30, between 10am - 4pm
at the University Towne Centre in the Walmart parking lot! Learn how to
fit a helmet properly by watching this video
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=dKo791h2hfE&t=166>
produced by Positive Spin. Contact me if you can participate for any
length of time. Good News: This is an awesome opportunity for the Spin
because the sponsor, Farmer, Cline, and Campbell Law Office, donates the
leftover helmets to Positive Spin assuming they end up with extra
helmets. Last year we received a large box of mostly toddler helmets.
*Please remember* if your child receives a new helmet at the fair, and
your family has no more use for the previous helmet, kindly donate it to
Positive Spin.
*June 15 - Board Meeting* *at Positive Spin* - If you are interested in
attending, and have not already spoken to me, please tell me by email
so I can send you a meeting packet and print out enough material for the
meeting.
*June 28 - Positive Spin Annual Meeting: optional fun ride with CRC,
10th Anniversary Celebration with Potluck Picnic including speakers from
local bike-related organizations* - The ride with CRC will be similar to
the Memorial Day weekend ride, but will be shorter with a turnaround
point at Dave's Shack on Deckers Creek Trail. Potluck and celebration
will commence at 4pm. Details are still being worked out; if you are
interested in helping in any way please contact me. For instance: Would
you like to help set up and take down chairs and tables? Are you a
musician who would like to perform or do you know someone who would?
Would you like to setup the sound system? Would you like to speak on
behalf of a local bike-related organization? Would you like to bake our
birthday cake?

Mon River Trails Conservancy is looking for volunteers for two upcoming

event in our area.
The 2015 sojourn in West Virginia will center on the city of

During the Sojourn, there will be many bicyclists visiting, and we will

providing bicycle event racks, and by allowing visitors to freely use
our tools at our Community Bike Shop on April 24 and 25.

RSVP not required but appreciated
*Sojourn Volunteers still needed on Saturday, April 25*
I would like one person on the north end of the bridge across
the Cheat River from 10:15 am to 11:30 am. Also two people on the
curve of Bunker Hill Road from 10:30 am until the sweep riders pass
about 3 pm. Doesn't have to be the same two people they could use 2 or
3 shifts to reduce the time of each shift.
They would have safety vests to help direct cyclists and warn drivers of
bicycles in the area by their visual presence. They would also have
safety flags.

Greetings,
I turned in my keys to Bopark this morning. I might suggest that they be passed on to young Jonathan. He worked hard all winter long helping Will fix up bikes and work on various projects at our shop.
Cheers,
Bill
I would like to invite you to consider serving as a Greeter at the front
of Positive Spin even if for only 1 hour at a time during one of our
weekly openings. Currently, Fridays and Saturday, 1-5pm with Saturdays
generally being our busiest days.
Greeters serve a critical role in making people feel welcome to our
Community Bike Shop, answering questions, helping with transactions, and
keeping exacting records. We now have a new computerized system that
was developed over the Winter by …
[View More]one of our volunteers, and which
already is taking our organization to a new level.
If you love interacting with people, you will really enjoy being a
Greeter. Contact me if you are interested, have more questions, or
alternatively just come down to the Spin.

Last year we were invited to set-up a demonstration at the last indoor
Farmers Market of the year for a new event sponsored by Morgantown's
Green Team called the Green Households Fair.
They liked us so much that we have been invited again for this year's
event on Saturday, April 18, 11am-1pm at the Wesley United Methodist
Church . Unlike last year, we will have a table indoors which will give
us even better exposure to the public. I will not be able to take a
lead this year so if you …
[View More]are interested in organizing this on behalf of
Positive Spin, please contact me.
We do have bicycle generator systems, so one possibility could be making
green drinks in an attached blender. I hope this interests someone
with a little electric understanding because the systems have not been
used in a long time, and appear to need some work. Another demonstration
possibility could be showing people how to bicycle repair tubes.
