Howdy Board,
Your homework, even if you're not able to attend the meeting:
Reach out to your cycling friends in other cities, or just ruminate on what you'd like to see / do here for Bike Month 2017. We haven't allocated the $5K in escrow yet, so feel free to dream big. We also have some leftover grant funds we may be able to use.
Perhaps we can put together event kits for groups around town to host bike events on their own? At businesses and at schools, for example?
Some inspiration from the league: http://bikeleague.org/bikemonth
Conversely, our Pittsburgh neighbors don't appear to place as much emphasis on Bike Month as some parts of the country. Maybe a different time of year for a larger series of events would work better for us too?
Also: if there was one road that we could paint with sharrows first, months before the installation of the whole project -- and you were limited to choosing a city road -- which would you choose to paint? This theoretical installation would serve as a motivator for all stakeholders involved.
Hope you've been enjoying this early spring on two wheels! Drew
